I've been a happy Premium customer for a while, but Spotify has failed to supply Nokia 500 phones with the software after the Nokia Belle update. I have been waiting, but it hasn't happened yet. Na początku 2011 roku Nokia zapowiedziała, że głównym systemem operacyjnym jej smartfonów zostanie Windows Phone. Praktycznie oznacza to rezygnację z Symbiana. Forum Canadian Wireless Discussion Freedom Mobile (previously Wind Mobile) Nokia 500 not getting Symbian Belle update Nokia 500 not getting Symbian Belle update I bought this phone from Wind and was told that it would be getting the "Belle" update. Today I have been on the phone to Nokia four times. They couldn't tell me anything. Then I check online and it looks as if we are not getting the update even though other countries are. I know the Nokia 500 is a lower range phone but I actually really like it and have put my Android away because I am enjoying using it. I know that this is the way the world is these days but I am sick and tired of calling Nokia's customer service and having to speak to someone in the Philipines that doesn't have a clue. According to the info online we are not getting the update and I am really upset as I was told by Nokia's customer service before I bought the phone that we were and I was also told by someone at Wind. Can anyone help? I noticed some people online talking about Phoenix Service Software and updating to "Belle" this way. even nokia N8 won't get update here, I heard it is not nokia but carriers who block the update. you can use that phoenix software to flash your phone. Is Nokia Belle available in Canada? - Nokia FAQ Non-carrier variants of Nokia C6-01, C7, E6, E7 and N8 devices can be upgraded now. The download is available at the Nokia Suite: Unfortunately, Nokia C6-01, C7, E6, E7, X7 and N8 devices purchased through Canadian carrier channels will not be upgraded to Nokia Belle. Do you have a reliable site for downloading Phoenix? I tried to download it and it started downloading 7-Zip so I'm not sure if I was at the wrong site. Any help would be appreciated. I just dont understand it. What would the reason be? Is it a "Wind" issue or is it "Nokia"? Too late to take the phone back and that was a big reason that I purchased it so that I could get the update. Wind doesn't update their phones, Optimus 2X is still waiting for Gingerbread. They lie, constantly. Originally Posted by Mr Mystery Wind doesn't update their phones, Optimus 2X is still waiting for Gingerbread. They lie, constantly. This is why I will never buy a phone that I can't easily update myself from third party sources. It's not nice if you need Wind to hold your hand and do it for you OTA, but fortunately for me I don't care about that. Originally Posted by Boobaj I just dont understand it. To get around this limitation most people hack their phones to make it appear to be from Brazil so Nokia will push updates. I have a Nokia C7 from wind that I updated to belle through phoenix. It still go all the OTA updates for things like MS office suite etc. No down sides at all. Just takes a little research to get it going. If you can't find a guide, google for a how-to on the Nokia C7. I followed the comments posted by a guy in a comments section of a mobilesyrup article. Can anyone give me any sites to go on to download Phoenix? As I mentioned earlier, I did try to do this but it kept downloading 7-Zip each time I tried. Any help here would be appreciated. Not tech savvy when it comes to this but will try. @Mr Mystery: Is it true that the reason the 2X didn't get Gingerbread was because Wind didn't want to pay LG $1 per phone upgrade to have them add the Wind splash screen for them? If so then they probably won't pay for ICS either. Carrier meddling is getting out of hand! Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using HowardForums Did any of you guys flashed Nokia 500 to Belle FP1? I just bought the phone from mobilicity and its on Anna right now and doesn't update further. I found this link. http:*/*/*forum.*dailymobile.*net*/ but I'm new to all this flashing. I dont really want to brick a new phone. take out all the * The 500 lacks a GPU. It was the worst Symbian phone Mobilicity and Wind could have brought in. At least Mobilicity's selling it for $100, which is a fine price for a good dumbphone. The word 'Pentaband' means '5 Bands', from the Greek word 'pente' meaning '5'. For a phone to be pentaband it has to support 5 bands. If the phone has AWS support, it doesn't automatically mean that it is pentaband. Don't send me PMs for questions that can be asked publicly. well that 500 was just a slight upgrade from my 5230 at a $100 its ok well better than 5230. but anyone tried flashing belle fp1 to Nokia 500 from mobilicity? and succeeded?
